UBUNTU is the 9th Precept of #bioenergeticarchitecture which is a word describing an African tribal understanding about life.
It simply means that ‘Wellbeing of part (Us) is intertwined with the Wellbeing of the Whole (People, Place, Planet!)
DECARBONISATION BUSINESS CHARTER is a collaborative platform that aims to identify priority actions and explore common challenges and opportunities for stakeholders across the building and construction value chain to transition towards a low-carbon pathway.
BIOENERGETIC ARCHITECTURE (as a design practice) IS NOW A PROUD SIGNATORY OF DECARBONISATION BUSINESS CHARTER
Our thoughts:
1. Decarbonisation and Sustainable consciousness cannot be driven with TOP-DOWN approach only – backed with ratings, business charters and policies.
2. Real impact can come from BOTTOM-UP approach when each one of us imbibes the spirit of #UBUNTU in word, spirit and action. That is possible once WE REALIZE THAT OUR SKIN IS ALSO IN THE GAME. We can no longer be bystanders and onlookers as the drama of climate change unfolds!
3. A change in attitude to reduce our carbon footprint is not limited to buiding design and construction only. BEING PROACTIVE TO CHANGE OUR PRIORITIES AND PREFERENCES is tough since it will affect our #lifestylechoices , our #comfortzones, habits and thought pattern that govern our day-today actions. YES, every time we waste food and water, every time we buy anything we really do not need, every choice we make and action we take –these hold potential to reduce our #carbonfootprint

It was a beautiful August morning at the Swiss Embassy in Delhi, conference room flushed with natural light and amazing view of verdant garden where we were invited for a #paneldiscussion on #effectiveimplementation of #decabonisationbusinesscharter.
That is where we opted to volunteer as a signatory for the charter alongwith many more from industry.
